24-Year-Old Woman Arrested After Shooting at Car During Road Rage Dispute

A 24-year-old woman from San Bernardino County is in custody, accused of attempted murder during a road rage incident, after investigators tracked her vehicle using automated license plate readers (ALPRs), the California Highway Patrol announced.

According to a CHP news release, the violence began around 8:15 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the 10 Freeway, east of Riverside Avenue in San Bernardino.

A motorist in a gray Nissan Rogue, now identified as Loma Linda resident Angeline Marie Gable, was apparently upset about a lane change when she pulled beside the victim, a driver of a black 2024 Honda Civic.

Authorities claimed Gable pulled out a handgun and fired several shots at the Honda, striking it several times.

A witness to the road rage shooting called 911 immediately to report the occurrence.

Responding CHP officers spotted the victim’s car, approached the male driver, and saw the bullet holes in his vehicle.

“The Office of Criminal Investigations’ Emergency Notification and Tactical Alert Center, located in Sacramento, provided real-time investigatory assistance and discovered a FLOCK Safety camera had captured an image of the suspect vehicle,” according to the announcement.

Flock Safety cameras, an ALPR system, are commonly employed by law enforcement departments in California and across the country to build a database of information that includes vehicle color, make, model, and even identifiers such as decals and stickers.

Using information from the Flock system, Fontana Police Department officers executed an enforcement stop on the 24-year-old suspect’s vehicle just after 5 p.m. the same day.

Gable and another adult female were kept until CHP officers arrived and brought both women into custody for questioning, while the Nissan Rogue was confiscated as evidence. During the car inventory, officers discovered a loaded weapon that matched the witness’ description, officials said.

“Deliberate acts of violence like these will not be tolerated,” CHP Captain Lance Berns declared.

Gable was taken into the San Bernardino County Detention Center on several felony charges, including attempted murder and shooting a pistol at an inhabited vehicle.

There was no further information released regarding the 24-year-old’s unidentified female passenger, whether she was present during the road rage incident, or whether she was facing any charges in the case.
