Gucci x adidas deserves all the sports-related exclamations. Such is the magnitude of the collaborative collection: it’s a veritable slam dunk, a hat trick, a grand slam. Game, set, match.
The sporting theme is of course derived from Gucci x adidas itself, a collection of (what else) retro sportswear birthed from Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele rifling through adidas’ archive.
It’s the kinda stuff that he’s been alluding to in Gucci collections over the years with a track jacket here and a tennis sweater there but, this time, it’s the real deal.
But Michele’s adoration of sports and self-aware kitsch isn’t inherently new to us, the adoring public, so why does Gucci x adidas still feel essential?
It’s the prestige of authenticity. Yes, it’s cool that Gucci x adidas’ co-branded track jackets, T-shirts, bags, and Gazelle sneakers exist at all, but the fact that it’s all bonafide collaborative clobber is what makes Gucci x adidas hit home.
These aren’t mere track jackets, for instance, but variations of THE adidas track jacket. Their pedigree can be traced back to the original toss-on outerwear that set the standard for all lightweight athletic windbreakers that followed. The GOAT.
Though Gucci x adidas is by basest definition a clothing collaboration, it’s also an acknowledgement of The Real Thing. Two titans of culture, founded within a couple decades of each other, coming together in harmony. The dream team.
Akin to Gucci’s The North Face collaboration, Gucci x adidas feels so right because there’s both respect for and fresh perspective of the classic pieces. The elder statesmen meet the draftees.
So, Gucci x adidas plays to the crowd with crocheted jackets, monogrammed “track” pants, and instant-classic bucket hats and caps while breaking new ground with subtly-branded safari jackets, chunky knitwear, lacey polo shirts, and creased skirts.
In the same way that a single legendary game will epitomize everything that a sports team stands for, Gucci & adidas’ collaborative accessories encapsulate the crux of the collaboration as a concise thesis statement.
The collaborative Gazelle shoes are a worthy contender for de-facto Gucci x adidas item but you could just as easily select the adidas slides shapeshifted into platform sandals, the travel cases Guccified with monogrammed canvas, or even the humble sport socks that’re transmogrified with retro day-glo color.
When Highsnobiety recently got hands-on with Gucci x adidas pieces from the Exquisite Gucci collection, as seen in the photos below, we scoped some of the suiting and double-brimmed caps that aren’t actually in the lookbook and they’re all as nutty IRL as they looked on the runway.
But it’ll be some time before they see general release, so consider this your final look (for now).
Instead, the stuff you see in the Gucci x adidas lookbook will be first to release on June 7 via the adidas CONFIRMED app, select Gucci stores, and Gucci x adidas pop-ups (details forthcoming).
All the other collaborative Gucci x adidas items will drop separately later in the year following the debut of a dedicated campaign, a hall of fame-worthy victory lap.
Editor’s Notes: Who runs the world? Beyoncé. As we all start gearing up for the fast-approaching start of summer, updating our sneaker rotations with seasonal palettes and dialed-back fabrications, the Queen B is hotting up the streets with a fresh pair of Three Stripes.
It’s been a minute since the last adidas x IVY PARK release, and there’s no doubting that the Beyhive has been hungry for new product, whether that’s sneakers or apparel. Well, the time has come to feast your eyes on something hot off the press – the Super Sleek.
Hitting the ground running with a name worthy of the star, the Super Sleek is being framed as the perfect addition to any summer sneaker rotation.
Though aesthetically unique, the shoe’s DNA is rooted in two of adidas’ most classic silhouettes, the timeless Stan Smith and resurging favorite, the Samba.
The Stan Smith’s silhouette lends itself to the Super Sleek’s profile, although this unique take comes with exaggerated proportions, such as an oversized sole that gives these an almost creeper-like aesthetic. Additional adi’ archival references are sprinkled across the sneaker, such as the unmistakable football-inspired Samba tongue and T-shaped toe box.
Palette-wise, the upcoming sneaker is rooted in old-school sportswear, rendered in a mixed fabrication of leather and suede in a blend of off-white and beige tones – a perfectly balance seasonal mix. Finishing off the look is a touch of green, once again referencing the Stan, creating a beautiful contrast to the transparent gum-hued platform sole below.

Marathon season is upon us. The weather’s good, you’ve been training hard through the cold, dark evenings, and you’re feeling ready to take on the race. But while you might be mentally and physically prepared, the question is: do you have the right marathon gear?
It might seem like it’s not a priority and, of course, we’d agree that physical training is more important than what you wear around the circuit, but it’s not to be overlooked. Chafing, muscle stress, and overheating are just some of the pesky things that can bring a premature end to the big day. But, buy the right marathon gear and you won’t pay a second’s thought to chafing.
With the help of New Balance, we’ve rounded up the best marathon gear to take on the 26.2 miles that lie ahead. From running shoes to shorts, tops, and even accessories, this is your marathon gear checklist.
Find your New Balance marathon gear checklist below.
Accessories
Your accessories might be small but they play a huge part in facilitating your PB. A phone pouch is essential because you can’t have your phone bouncing around in a pocket and you obviously want to post your time at the finish line… Aside from that, investing in a lightweight running cap will do you well — summer marathons are sunburn hotspots.
Tops
It might be worth copping some nipple tape before your race, but if you’re vetoing that idea then be sure to pay attention to what kind of top you’re wearing. A vest is always a good idea because when you’re halfway around the circuit you’ll be begging for ventilation. It’s worth remembering that a packable coat can pay off big time if the weather deteriorates.
Shorts
There’s a lot of discussion around which shorts to wear for a marathon. Obviously, everybody has their own preference so below are three variations for all styles. There are super-short shorts, mid-length shorts, and 2-layer shorts.
Shoes
Undoubtedly the most important piece of marathon gear is your footwear. Below, we’ve selected the New Balance Hierro and the Fresh Foam 1080 which proves itself time and time again to be one of the best running shoes on the market.

The $300 million superyacht of Russia’s richest oligarch is safely docked in Dubai. A floating private island in itself the 290-feet Nirvana has a one of its kind glass elevator, two vivariums with exotic reptiles, a 3D cinema with 3,600 titles, and a popcorn machine.
Much has been discussed about all the Russian oligarchs who have been sanctioned by the US and its allies in response to Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. According to Forbes, a total of 25 billionaires from Russia have been hit by crippling sanctions. However, one name that has been surprisingly missing from the list of sanctioned Russian oligarchs is Vladimir Potanin. With a personal wealth of more than $30 billion, Potanin is considered the wealthiest Russian oligarch and the 58th richest person in the world.

Despite the fact that his name appeared on the US Treasury’s “Putin list” in 2018 which included 210 individuals closely associated with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Potanin has only been sanctioned by Canada.

It is believed that the US and its allies have not gone after Potanin as his company accounts for about 40% of global palladium output and 10% of refined nickel – very crucial metals heavily used in all kinds of manufacturing and tech products. Sanctioning Potanin might result in massive supply chain disruptions. Although Potanin has managed to stay safe from punishing sanctions till now, the billionaire was quick to anticipate the consequences of the war and took steps to protect his wealth and property, including his luxury superyachts. Shortly after the Russian army crossed into the Ukrainian territory, Potanin had his $300 million superyacht named Nirvana moved to the Maldives to keep it away from being seized.

However, according to the latest marine traffic data, the 88.4-meter luxury vessel is currently located in Dubai, which has become another preferred safe haven for Russians ever since the war began in February. The UAE has not put sanctions on Russia or criticized its invasion of Ukraine, making it a safe location for the super-rich Russians to park their wealth and pleasure crafts.

The beauty of the Nirvana superyacht The Nirvana superyacht is one of the most beautiful luxury vessels in existence that was delivered to Vladimir Potanin in 2012. The stunning Trans-Pacific cruiser was built by Oceanco, a famous custom yacht building company in the Netherlands that’s owned by Oman’s private investor Dr. Mohammed Al Barwan. Measuring 88.5-meters in length, Nirvana was the largest pleasure craft created by Oceanco when it was delivered a decade ago; however, the Dutch shipyard has undertaken much bigger builds in the last ten years.

The vessel’s sleek exterior and modern interior were both designed by Sam Sorgiovanni. According to Boat International, Nirvana’s gorgeous design was penned to support her owner’s active lifestyle at sea. The $300 million superyacht even won Boat International Media’s prestigious award for Best Exterior Design & Styling.

The gorgeous exterior of the vessel features contemporary lines, while the slightly flared bow gives it a distinct appearance, which is further helped by a sleek navy blue hull and a white superstructure. Nirvana has a total of six extensively lavish decks, including the aft deck that features large sun pads and a 7.5-meter counterflow pool. The pool’s floor can be lifted to deck level, creating a large space for entertainment purposes.

The superyacht can accommodate up to 12 guests and requires a crew of 27 members to keep it running. The interior is decked out in earthly tones and features 10 different wood veneers, including eucalyptus, teak, oak, and palm wood in various finishes. All guest cabins are located on the main deck that gets floor-to-ceiling windows as well as the full-beam VIP stateroom.

One of the highlights of the pleasure craft is the massive grand master suite which covers a whopping 150 square meters and dominates over half of the upper deck. It has a private sunbathing area along with a Jacuzzi.

Additionally, Nirvana also gets a fully-equipped gymnasium, spa, a 3D cinema, and twin tender garages with two 11-meter tenders, a ski boat, and 10 jet ski/waverunners. Nirvana is powered by 2 MTU engines, which gives it a maximum speed of 20 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots.
Vladimir Potanin
Who is Vladimir Potanin? Potanin is considered to be the wealthiest man in Russia with a personal wealth of around $30 billion. The 61-year-old Russian oligarch was born in Moscow into a high-ranking communist family and acquired his wealth through the controversial loans-for-shares program in Russia in the early to mid-1990s. It was through this program Potanin acquired Norilsk Nickel, which would go on to make him the richest man in Russia. The billionaire was also appointed as First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation in 1996. Potanin has close ties to the Kremlin and is believed to be good mates with Vladimir Putin. In fact, in a 2018 Financial Times interview, he claimed that President Putin often joins him to play ice hockey. Nirvana is not the only superyacht owned by the oligarch. According to reports, the billionaire currently owns at least three superyachts. Interestingly, Nirvana was put up for sale shortly after it was delivered in 2012 with an asking price of $304 million.
