David Spade Seeks $20 Million for Trousdale Estates Mansion

Now that David Spade is kicking it at his sexy new $14 million Hollywood Hills digs high above the Sunset Strip, it seems the veteran comedian/actor, 57, has no need for his longtime home in the posh Beverly Hills enclave of Trousdale Estates. As first reported by The Wall Street Journal, the recent “Bachelor in Paradise” guest host has decided to hoist the estate onto the market, asking a whopping $16 million premium over what he paid for the place some two decades ago.

Originally built in 1978 and designed by modernist architect Edward Fickett, Spade’s Beverly Hills mansion was previously occupied by Prince, Eddie Murphy and Warren Beatty; he purchased the property back in 2001 for $4 million and has extensively updated it since then. Nestled on roughly three-quarters of an acre behind gates, the metal parapet-roof structure offers four bedrooms and seven baths in just over 6,400 square feet, plus glitzy amenities like an entertainment lounge sporting a bespoke bar. Floor-to-ceiling walls of glass overlook sweeping ocean and city lights views.

The double front door opens into a chandeliered foyer, which steps down past a massive indoor “living” tree into a sunken great room accented by a fireplace and glass siders spilling out to an expansive patio ideal for al fresco dining and entertaining. Other main-level highlights include a formal dining room, plus an updated gourmet kitchen outfitted with stone countertops, an eat-in island, high-end stainless appliances and an adjacent breakfast nook.

Upstairs, the sumptuous master retreat comes equipped with a loft, fireplace, sitting area and terrace, along with dual walk-in closets and spa-inspired baths; outdoors, the inviting backyard holds a large rectangular pool, fire-pit and full-size tennis court. There’s also a three-car garage and expansive motorcourt for additional parking.

In addition to his Hollywood Hills and Trousdale Estates properties, Spade also owns a $2.3 million Spanish bungalow in the Beverly Grove area of West Hollywood. Stuart Vetterick of Hilton & Hyland serves as the listing agent for the Beverly Hills house.

Tips To Keep Your Luxury Home in Pristine Condition

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Owning a luxury or high-end home offers many advantages. However, they can also be challenging to maintain. The maintenance and repairs required by luxury properties vary greatly compared to traditional homes, which is why some new luxury homeowners aren’t prepared for what they encounter.

From exclusive issues such as a problem with the heated floors to a more common issue like the need for a simple plumbing repair, understanding what to do to keep your luxury home in pristine condition is a must. Here are some helpful tips and insights about luxury home maintenance and repairs.

Keep Up With Regular Maintenance

A huge mistake made by many luxury homeowners is waiting to handle standard maintenance tasks. While maintaining any home can be expensive, stressful, and tedious, putting it off will only lead to more issues.

With any luxury property, the best way to deal with small repairs – particularly those that may get worse – is by handling them as soon as they are discovered. For example, call a plumber at the first sign of a leaking pipe and seal holes in walls before more damage occurs. It’s also recommended that you try to repaint well-used areas in your home regularly, to maintain their pristine appearance.

Keep Things Clean

Another step to take when it comes to maintaining your luxury property is to clean it regularly. Having a cleaner house means it will look more well-kept and luxurious. Make it a habit to keep every room in your home tidy and organized. Larger houses require more patience and time to clean, and if you don’t think you can handle this yourself, hire someone to do it for you.

Get into the habit of regularly tidying up at the end of the day, and encourage this behavior in your family members as well. Keep a schedule of cleaning tasks that need to be completed, including deeper cleaning jobs such as steam cleaning floors and carpets. If you get into a routine, cleaning your house will be something you can handle quickly and easily.

Adopt a Minimalist Mindset

If your goal is to maintain your luxury home’s pristine appearance, then adopting a minimalist mindset is highly recommended. Most high-end homes come with plenty of space; however, this doesn’t mean you have to fill up every nook and cranny with “stuff.”

With a minimalist mindset, you can eliminate excessive and impulsive purchases of décor and furniture. When you do this, you can strategically use the items you have. Maintaining a minimalist perspective is a great way to ensure your home maintains an elegant and sophisticated look.

Follow the Latest Home Design Trends

When it comes to luxury properties, there are always high expectations. If you are thinking about making upgrades down the road, you should stay updated on the most recent trends. This will ensure you always know what is in style and what types of changes or enhancements you can use to increase your home’s value.

One example is installing energy-efficient appliances. This will help you reduce energy costs while increasing your property’s value. Another example is the installation of smart home technology. With these, you can have features like phone-controlled thermostats, lights, and locks, which also increase your home value.

Maintaining the Look and Feel of Your Luxury Home

Buying a luxury home is a huge investment. Keeping it in pristine condition should be a top priority if you make this investment. While this may seem like a daunting process, it doesn’t have to be. Use these tips to help ensure your luxury home maintains the luxury appearance you want, and that it increases its value over time. This will pay off and help you enjoy all owning a luxury home offers.
