Take a first look at Team USA’s 2020 Ryder Cup polos by Ralph Lauren (and where you can buy them for yourself)

Published

on

Beginning on Friday, September 24th, the best golfers in the world will be teeing it up for the 43rd Ryder Cup—a storied bout between the top-ranked players in America and those across Europe.

This edition of the Ryder Cup—which was postponed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic—will take place at one of America’s greatest golf courses, Whistling Straits outside Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

There’s perhaps never been a more widely anticipated Ryder Cup, first and foremost due to its initial postponement, but also because golf has hit the mainstream in the United States like never before (we’re calling it a Golfaissance).

Not to mention a healthy rivalry that’s manifested within Team USA—even though it’s reportedly been “put to bed.”

Beef aside, Team USA will be taking on the Europeans in style, as Polo Ralph Lauren is once again the official outfitter of the yanks.

We have your first look at the guys’ polos below, but that’s not the lede.

The lede is, you can buy them for yourself right now.

Whether you’re making the trek to Wisconsin to watch, or rooting for the boys via your living room, check out the lot below and head to Ralph Lauren’s site to see the full kits.

Bernard Arnault Subtly Flexes a Tiffany Blue Patek Philippe 5740

After an image surfaced on Instagram of Bernard Arnault, owner of LVMH and now owner of Tiffany, playing chess with his son, it looked as though he was lucky enough to secure one of the 170 unique Tiffany-Blue Patek Philippe Nautilus Perpetual 5740 pieces.

On closer inspection, however, it became clear that this was, in fact, an even rarer timepiece. While the watch in question was indeed a Patek Philippe Nautilus quipped with a Tiffany-Blue dial, it was not the 5711. Instead, it’s a unique Tiffany-Blue Patek Philippe Nautilus Perpetual Calendar 5740.

Ordinarily, the 5740 is encased in white gold and equipped with a mid-blue dial. Arnault’s unique take resembled TAG Heuer Carrera, and though it featured the same pairing of Tiffany Blue dial and black and white hour markers and hands as used on the 5711 pieces, this watch boasts perpetual calendar sub dial lettering and a moonphase window.

Such a unique time is sure to come with a significant price tag. For context,  the “Tiffany Blue” Nautilus released on December 11 for $52,635 apiece. However, one of the ultra-rare watches did hit the auction block courtesy of Phillips, granting the public a rare opportunity to try their luck at snagging the timepiece.
The unique opp piqued the attention of three very wealthy bidders, who sent the “Tiffany Blue” Nautilus’ gavel price skyrocketing to over 100 times that of retail, eventually landing on a gavel price of $5,350,000 with an all-in cost of $6.5 million.

sacai’s long-standing partnership with Nike has produced some of the best collaborative silhouettes of the past few years – the LDWaffle, the Vaporwaffle, and even the drove of rebuilt Blazers. And later this year, the Japanese label will add to the lineage with a similarly reimagined Cortez.

The upper, much like the LDWaffle, is relatively faithful to the original silhouette, built with its usual smooth leathers and grey suede eyestays/toe. Even the Swoosh is kept intact, though its paired with an additional, printed twin a à la the Vaporwaffle. As for the sole, which continues Chitose Abe’s penchant for oversized bases, it sits aesthetically between the two aforementioned shoes, while offering a sizable but manageable bulk, a protruding heel piece, and new cushioning towards the forefoot.

Enjoy a first look at the sacai x Nike Cortez here. It’s possible more images will surface once the brand lets walk their AW22 collection.

First Look At The Nike SB Dunk Low “Bart Simpson”

This past year, The Simpsons entered an exclusive partnership with adidas, who gave the cast their very own signature shoes. With their Dunk Low “Bart Simpsons,” Nike SB is effectively following suit, albeit in a less official capacity.

As it’s likely unassociated with the series, the pair bears no features overtly reminiscent of the mischievous rebel. Instead, the colorway is used to draw a subtle connection, with Bart’s bright orange tee represented by way of the suede overlays. Even his blue shorts and shoes are paid homage to, as a similar shade is used for the lining and outsole. Underneath, the leathers then dress a bright yellow, obviously nodding to the skin of Springfield’s many inhabitants.

For a closer look, be sure to check out the leaked imagery below. For now, sit tight as we await additional updates.
