A former teacher in Mississippi has been given a sentence of almost 200 years in prison.

Toshemie Wilson, former teacher at Amory High School in Amory, Mississippi, was found guilty on multiple charges of sexual exploitation of a child in December.

During Wilson’s tenure at the Amory School District, he utilized his role as a teacher and advisor of the Technology Students of America to cultivate relationships with students.

Between 2005 and 2014, he manipulated students into creating explicit videos and pictures in return for money and drugs.

A sentencing has been handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge Debra M. Brown. Toshemie Wilson, a former employee of the Amory School District, has been sentenced to a lengthy 192 years in prison. Additionally, Wilson has been ordered to pay over $123,000 in restitution to the victims, along with a $5,000 trafficking assessment. This information was provided by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Mississippi in a recent news release.

Investigators from the FBI and the Mississippi Attorney General’s office have received reports of abuse from at least 11 students.

Seven individuals provided testimony stating that Wilson approached them during their time as students and requested that they create explicit videos in return for compensation. These incidents occurred between 2005 and 2014 at different venues, including a restroom within a school.

“Parents and children should be able to trust teachers, and Toshemie Wilson profoundly betrayed that trust and deserves every hour of every day that he spends in prison,” U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner said. “I cannot say enough about the courage of the victims who came forward …. Wilson is now exactly where he belongs.”
