19-year-old Texas Man Shot Straight in Head by Man after Heated Argument; Victim Dead and Killer Arrested by Police
Authorities have made an arrest and tragically, there has been a fatality resulting from a shooting incident in Smith County on July 4.
On Thursday evening, deputies from the Smith County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to a shooting incident in the vicinity of Tyler. The incident occurred in the 3700 block of Hwy, 271 N. The authorities were alerted to the situation when they received information that a gunshot victim had been taken to a Tyler hospital.
Smith County investigators were called to both the hospital and the crime scene, where they discovered that three friends had been driving a truck along Old Gladewater Hwy. Unfortunately, their journey came to an abrupt halt when they reached a dead end.
They drove behind Bautista Auto Sales after turning around to head back toward Hwy. 271. According to officials, gunshots were heard as they passed by, resulting in a backseat passenger, Rawly Sanchez, 19, being shot in the back of the head.
Sanchez was taken to the hospital by the other two occupants of the truck, but unfortunately, he did not survive.
The authorities have successfully identified the individual responsible for the incident as Seferino Bautista-Renteria, aged 35, who happens to be the proprietor of Bautista Auto Sales. Authorities apprehended him at his place of residence as they carried out search warrants at both his home and business.
Bautista-Renteria was subsequently apprehended for murder and placed in custody at the Smith County Jail with a bond set at $1 million as reported by CBS 19 News.
Sanchez’s body has been transported to Dallas for further examination. The investigation is still in progress.
