17-year-old Dead in Triple apartment shooting in Phoenix, survivor says shooting occurred after a heated argument
Phoenix, AZ: The Phoenix Police Department revealed more details about the shooting incident on Monday.
The shooting incident claimed one life. Two others were hospitalized as they suffered from gunshot wounds.
The department spokesperson, Sgt. Rob Scherer, stated that at approximately 2:15 p.m., officers were sent to an apartment complex close to 45th Avenue and Thomas Road in response to reports of gunfire.
According to Scherer, authorities discovered a man in the middle of the apartment complex who had at least one gunshot wound. This man would eventually be identified by detectives as the primary suspect in the shooting.
Inside an adjacent apartment building, police discovered a boy and a girl who had both sustained at least one gunshot wound. The girl was brought to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the guy, identified as 17-year-old Arlandis West Jr., was declared dead at the site.

In addition, the man Scherer identified as the shooting suspect was admitted to the hospital, where his condition remained serious but stable.
According to Scherer, before there was a gunfight, the male allegedly assaulted the youngster about a quarrel. Scherer did not go into detail about whether the girl, boy, or both had weapons.
When the man is released from the hospital, Scherer said he will be charged with several crimes, but he did not say which charges. Scherer continued, “Police would identify the man upon his booking.”
