15-year-old Teen girl raped by Pastor in Florida, Perpetrator Arrested from Texas
Marathon, FL: The Texas authorities have arrested a man who is accused of raping a teen girl in Florida. The man in question is a pastor and is a Marathon resident.
Authorities in Texas detained the pastor on Friday. He had reportedly been wanted for sexually abusing a teenage girl, and he had been on the run since his arrest last month.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, 62-year-old Monte LaVelle Chitty was taken into custody in Woodville, Texas, at approximately 5 o’clock in the afternoon.
Reportedly, Chitty approached a church group in Texas that was involved with helping the homeless. Authorities say he was apprehended when a concerned churchgoer reported him to them.
Chitty was shown in a photo provided by the sheriff’s office being held in a police vehicle.
The pastor of First Baptist Church, Chitty, was arrested last month by authorities from Monroe County on accusations of sexual battery, indecent and lascivious behavior, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
An anonymous caller allegedly overheard a minor girl describing the traumatic event to an adult, prompting authorities to launch an inquiry.
According to deputies, the victim, a 15-year-old girl, informed police that Chitty had given her alcohol, which she thought might have been spiked, because she felt weak and passed out after drinking it. Chitty was sexually abusing her when she awoke.
The reason Chitty contacted the authorities in advance was because “he believed he was about to be accused of something and he wanted to get ahead of it,” according to officers. He asserted that he assisted a drunken girl at his church in getting down on a couch in the library and that he refrained from touching her thereafter.
Chitty allegedly discussed having sexual intercourse with the girl while she was incapacitated in text exchanges that were later uncovered by detectives.
According to authorities, Chitty was being jailed on a $1.3 million bond. She had previously been a registered volunteer with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in the role of a pastor.
