15-year-old Stabbed to Death by Couple High on Drugs and was Set on Fire in Texas; Woman Pleaded Guilty of Horrific Killing
A suspect has admitted to the 2012 murder of a 15-year-old in Ellis County. Jennifer Puente admitted to committing murder and tampering with a corpse in relation to the tragic death of Moriah Gonzales.
In Ennis, on March 17, 2012, the body of Gonzales was discovered ablaze on the roadside. Shortly after, authorities issued a warrant for Puente’s arrest, as well as her boyfriend Joe Alvarado.
Alvarado was apprehended at a Grand Prairie motel, while Puente remained elusive.
During his testimony, he described the tragic incident where Puente fatally stabbed Gonzales while they were under the influence of drugs.
According to his account, he assisted his girlfriend in transporting the body to a field in Ennis.
Alvarado received a lengthy prison sentence of 34 years for murder, along with an additional 20 years for tampering with evidence in 2014.

In 2022, Puente was apprehended in Mexico by Mexican authorities.
In February 2023, a team comprising Texas Rangers, the Ennis Police Department, and other law enforcement personnel successfully apprehended Puente and returned them to Ellis County.
Following the admission of guilt on Tuesday, a judge handed down a 40-year prison sentence for the murder charge and 15 years for the tampering charge to Puente.
The sentences will be served at the same time as reported by FOX News.
