A social worker in Ohio has confessed to engaging in sexual abuse with a 13-year-old boy whom she had been providing counseling to.

Reports state that Payton Shires has pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including four counts of unlawful sexual misconduct with a minor.

Shires was initially apprehended in October following the discovery of messages between the counselor and the victim’s mother. These messages pertained to a video that authorities claimed depicted an intimate encounter between the two individuals.

In the messages that were reported, Shires inquired whether the child had removed the videos and if his mother had viewed them.

Shires has admitted to causing panic with a firearm and intimidating a victim or witness.

According to previous reports, Shires allegedly arrived at the boy’s home with a firearm following her arrest. Based on records, Shires was found sitting on the porch with a gun to her head when the police arrived. She was yelling about wanting to harm the boy’s mother and end her own life.

During a controlled three-way call with the victim’s mother and the police, Shires confessed to the abuse.

According to court records, Shires is set to be sentenced on June 27 and may potentially face a prison term of over 20 years, as reported.
