11-year-old Faced Brutal Molestation in Day Care; Owner Recorded the Horrific Abuse and Uploaded it to Google Drive which Alerted Authorities in New York City

A daycare owner in New York City has been sentenced to twenty-five years in prison for sexually abusing a child under his care.

A 34-year-old defendant named Silfredo Castillo Martinez was found to be in possession of approximately 9,800 images of child sexual abuse material, according to the Department of Justice in the Southern District of New York. On Thursday, a judge handed down a 25-year prison sentence to him.

Authorities have stated that Castillo Martinez operated Lina’s Garden Day Care from his residence on Decatur Avenue in the Williamsbridge neighborhood of the northern Bronx. This arrangement lasted from July 2015 to May 2022. In the period between May and July of 2018, he documented instances of sexually abusing an 11-year-old.

Years later, Google provided a tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on April 25, 2022. The tip indicated that a user had uploaded potentially disturbing material related to child exploitation.

On May 3, law enforcement carried out a search warrant and confiscated approximately 30 electronic devices in his possession. Authorities discovered explicit content involving a young survivor of abuse during their investigation.

Authorities have identified the child and have been informed by the mother that the victim had been attending the daycare for several years.

According to official documents, the defendant confessed to uploading abusive material onto his Google Drive account after being questioned by authorities following the Miranda warning.

On March 21, he admitted to committing the serious crimes of sexual exploitation of a minor and production of child pornography as reported by Law and Crime.

“Silfredo Castillo Martinez exploited the trust placed in him as a daycare provider by sexually abusing one of the minor children under his care and recording that abuse,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams of the Southern District of New York said in a statement. “This lengthy prison sentence holds Castillo Martinez accountable for his horrific crimes and the extraordinary harm and trauma he caused.”
