11-year-old Brutally Stabbed to Death by Uncle; Grandmother also Stabbed Multiple Times; Suspect Arrested in California
A California man faces charges for the devastating loss of his mother and 11-year-old niece within the confines of their Berkeley home. This heartbreaking incident comes just a week after his mother reported his threatening behavior to the authorities.
According to court documents, the girl’s mother contacted the police around 4:45 p.m. on Saturday to report that her daughter had called her and revealed that she had been stabbed.
Police responded to a residence on Redfir Drive where they discovered Lawrente’ O’Cain, 28, with blood on his person and cuts on his hands.
A tragic discovery was made inside the home, where authorities found the lifeless body of a 53-year-old woman in the living room, and a heartbreaking scene unfolded as they also found the lifeless body of an 11-year-old girl in one of the bedrooms. According to court documents, both individuals sustained multiple stab wounds.
Several knives were discovered in close proximity to the victims as reported by Webster County Citizen News.
In court documents, police stated that O’Cain’s mother had reported on June 8 that her son was making threats towards her and the girl.
The Berkeley police Maj. Steve Runge stated that an officer had a conversation with her and advised her to consider filing for a restraining order.
The names of the woman and child had not been released by the police as of Monday morning.
According to authorities, O’Cain was apprehended at the location. The individual is facing charges of two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action.
The individual is currently in custody at the St. Louis County Justice Center without the possibility of bond, as confirmed by the police.
