10-year-old Shot Woman to Death in Florida; Killer’s Mother Received Sentence for Heartbreaking Incident that left Victim’s Family Devastated
A mother has been sentenced to five years in prison after her daughter allegedly shot and killed a woman in Orlando.
A 33-year-old woman named Lakrisha Isaac recently reached a plea bargain in May. Initially pleading not guilty, she ultimately changed her plea to no contest. The charges against her included manslaughter and culpable negligence for leaving a loaded firearm within reach of a minor. As a result, she faced a maximum sentence of 20 years.
The mother was granted a 128-day credit for the time she had already served on her sentence. After serving her prison sentence, Isaac will be placed on three years of probation and will be required to attend a parenting class as part of her probation.
“To the family, I am so sorry for your loss. Sometimes we find justice in other ways. If this is something you are struggling with, I can tell you that each and every one of us understands your struggle,” said Judge Kevin B. Weiss.
An incident occurred approximately two years ago, specifically on May 30, 2022, at the Jernigan Gardens Apartments located on Mercy Drive.
A witness recounted the incident where Isaac’s daughter gained access to the gun after her mother gave her a bag containing the firearm. She then proceeded to use the weapon to shoot a woman with whom Isaac had allegedly engaged in a physical altercation.
A woman named Lashun Rodgers, 41, was tragically involved in an incident while enjoying a Memorial Day cookout with her boyfriend, according to the police. Tragically, Rodgers was shot twice and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, according to ClickOrlando News.
Isaac was taken into custody and subsequently released on bail. A 10-year-old girl was arrested shortly after the shooting, but the Orange-Osceola State Attorney’s Office has stated that no charging decision has been made.
